HCC’s assessment philosophy is built on the principle of competency-based evaluation. This means learners are assessed not just on theoretical understanding, but on the practical ability to perform real-world tasks to industry standards.
Conducted throughout the learning process. Examples include online quizzes, reflective journals, case study analyses, and class discussions. These low-stakes assessments provide early feedback and support continuous improvement.
Realistic simulations, workplace projects, or on-the-job observations demonstrate applied competence. Learners are encouraged to collect evidence such as photos, process logs, and supervisor endorsements.
Comprehensive final evaluations integrating all learning outcomes. They may include written papers, oral presentations, and practical tasks assessed at accredited centres.
All results undergo internal moderation to ensure consistency across assessors. Final verification is performed by the QCTO or the designated Assessment Quality Partner (AQP), confirming national standard compliance.
Feedback and Appeals
A formal appeals process allows re-evaluation of disputed results within ten working days.
Assessment data is stored securely in compliance with POPIA. Only authorised staff may access learner records. External moderators sign confidentiality agreements to protect intellectual property and privacy.
